…I never showed must interest in Sinéad O’Connor, thinking she had histrionic tendencies but these quotes indicate that there was something deeper there. I may explore her music a little…
I’m trying to catch up with a few Substacks and it’s taking some time. I appreciate the honesty in your personal reflections. Your writing is both graceful and very thought provoking.
It seems we are on the same page about many things. 🪷
Hi Frances, I was never really a fan of her myself, although I will never forget seeing that video of her singing Nothing Compares to You for the first time, as the tears rolled down her face, very moving. I think at heart she was a good person, though, she could possibly have achieved a lot of good if the personal traumas hadn't got in her way. She was very much loved and revered over here.
It's great to hear that what you are reading here resonates with you. Its one of the benefits of the digital age, I think, being able to connect with like-minded people all over the globe. From my experience, modern society does not always enable community, so we have to look further afield. Perhaps its more like reconnection. Communities probably did once share similar concerns and interests.
She was very wise. She was also the same age as me. I will never forget the tear rolling down her face as she sang Nothing Compares 2U for her music video. I hope your grief passes soon and you start to feel more normal. Hugs xxx
Thanks for the Sinead O’Connor quotes, RIP. If only we could go, as supporters of the purpose of "Grandma's Call." Just impossible now. But appreciated John's repost of this Substack.
Thank you for supporting the cause, even if you cant make it there on the night, it still means a lot to us. We should perhaps start a petition so that those who cant be there can still have their say. 💕
I was hoping you would publish something wonderful about Tailtiu ... and here it is. Lovely for this time, and an important component to your HAG environment here. Sharing this ...
Wow you cross-posted me! Thank you, John, that is the first time that has happened to me on Substack. Tbh I was a bit anxious about this one as it challenges the traditional perceptions of Tailtiu... I think many people may not like that.
A pleasure to cross post as this is so essential in the theme of what you do and present, and what I am presenting at this time too. I also love your writing of this rather than mine. I love your approach to Tailtiu as I have said a bit similar in the past. I love how you have wrapped this. Alas, I did not send by email to my subscribers this time as I am bombing them with an email a day with my current series, and will do for a few more days to get it done. But in the future when you write something wonderful, as you often do, that’s also in theme with what I am presenting, the emails will go out too. I posted on Facebook too.
You are very kind! I wish the same for you, too... I know you have been very busy lately, and I have a lot to catch up on. We've had visitors for the last few weeks, and when Carys is off school, I get very little time for myself, its a struggle to even get my own writing done, hence this being late today. But I made it! 🤣 Take care of yourself, John!
I understand your comment about community Ali.

Thank you for acknowledging Sinead in this article, Ali. I have been teary-since she made her transition. I have always admired her, and I admire you.
