Wanted to add my voice affirming powerful Reiki experiences. I had done energy work for many years when I recieved my Reiki attunement and was familiar with subtle senses of energetic flow that hovered just beyond what I would call "physical." What I felt during the attunement was completely unexpected and entirely grounded in my body. My hair stood up. It was a less intense version of what happened when a childhood friend once dared me to touch the active socket of a desk lamp, but all over my upper body.

People who don't know can talk, but such a thing cannot be faked and a body knows what it knows, as you pointed out.

"A body knows what it knows"... I like that. My own Reiki experiences have not been as dramatic as yours, but still powerful nonetheless. When I practiced on myself, my dog would try and get himself under my hands, he loved it!

Finally got sitting long enough to read this. Thank you for the wonderful insights to the lives of the women who came before us & for keeping their stories alive 🙏

Thank you for reading, Eithne, I appreciate it, and your taking the time to comment. Its so important to remember and honour our foremothers. And to celebrate all women, past and present, young and old. Best wishes!💕

Thank you, Ali. I finally got a minute to sit and attempt to read this book, but alas, it is not in English. The pages are astonishing to look at, and it appears to be someone's life work - a huge effort. I am disappointed that I can't gain some knowledge for my healing work, but I have faith that someone, at some time, will attempt to type this info all up for the public. Thanks for telling me about it!

I know, and I haven't been able to find any translations of it. I suspect if someone is studying it right now, the work will go via the workings of academia and filter down to us eventually. Might be a long wait though.

It's written by a Catholic scholar who studies the literature stating that Jesus was actually married to Mary Magdalen, and that MM fled with his mother, Mary, and Joseph of Arimathea to Egypt and then to the Languedoc Provence of France (southwest) where she settled in and formed her own ministry. It is commonly believed by many in that area and in other parts of the world that MM was pregnant with Jesus's baby, and they were afraid to stay in Jerusalem after the crucifixtion. She had a baby girl named Sarah. Very interesting reading. And I will be visiting to a few of the many chapels built in her name. And nope, I still haven't reverted to Christianity after the last 35 years.

Yes I've heard that story about MM before. Intriguing.

Oh that story about the 'bionic' arm is a great one! Honestly, I don't know why there aren't movies made about Irish myths... those monk scribes were very inventive and way ahead of their time!

Loved it Ali. I was half way through a BA in Irish Cultural Studies last year and did alot of research on similar themes, alas life had other plans and I had to move away from the academic world :) I love "The book of the Cailleach" , it's a fabulous resource.

Thank you! I trust the path away from it and the channeling of wisdom in new ways :) The restraints of academia were difficult to navigate in the way that one's own voice becomes lost - though I truly value elements of scholarship deeply. Love your writing, thanks again x

Yes, it is. I just got it in the mail, with at least a dozen more waiting in line at the bookcase next to my bed, but I will try to have it read and bring it to you when I visit Ireland this summer.

It's pure word-play; one has positive connotations whilst the other is negative. Essentially, they mean the same thing, but can be switched to manipulate responses. No one would hate or despise or fear a woman who heals, but the word 'witch' inspires all those negative responses in some people.

Yes, I know. But for some reason, I didn't scroll all the way down and see the part where you explained it. When I returned to this post, I saw that I hadn't read everything. I just got in a book called "Witch," and she goes into that concept in detail.

I'll join Bart in France the first week of June. Then, off to Ireland. Unfortunately, he won't be joining me. Hopefully, my godson will come and drive me around if he can get off work. Otherwise, I will be riding buses and trains. I will take this conversation to email.

The Book of the O'Lees has been digitised. You can see it here:

https://www.isos.dias.ie/

You can read about the history of the book on the RIA website here:

I'm not aware of any commercially available translations as yet.

From “I feel this…” to ”a movement which is gathering pace.“

This whole section is so thought provoking. I read this part 3 times and it really resonated with me.

Ah... thank you! I really believe that we are in the beginning stages of great change. As always in such 'moments' (of course they are not moments but epochs, but in the timeline of history they will register as nothing more than a blip) there will be great pain before the joy. I wish it could be different. Who knows, maybe it will. Its an exciting time to be alive. 😊
